Players from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan came together recently in Xiamen, southeastern China Fujian province, for "FuJian Homologous Cup" Basketball Invitational Tournament.

This basketball tournament tips off on July 26 at the Xiang'an Sports Exchange Center in Xiamen. More than just a sporting event, the tournament offers a powerful platform for cross-Strait exchanges to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen emotional bonds, and explore a shared cultural identity.
Shared Stage for Professionals and Grassroots Players
This year’s FuJian Homologous Cup has attracted 10 teams from both professionals and grassroots.
Four Club Groups are Fujian Sturgeon Xunxing Basketball Club, Taoyuan Taiwan Beer Leopards, Hongkong Hon Yau Basketball Team, and Macau Hon Chon Sports Club.
Six Community Groups include team from Fujian, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Republic of Madagascar, and Malaysia, representing local enthusiasts and amateur players from across the region.
In today’s opening game, two of the tournament's top-tier contenders, Fujian Sturgeon Xunxing Basketball Club and Taoyuan Taiwan Beer Leopards, faced off in a highly anticipated matchup. The game featured star players such as CBA All-Star Chen Linjian and CUBA Finals MVP Zou Yang, captivating fans with high-level competition and electric performances.

Fujian Sturgeons defeated the Taoyuan Leopards 100–69. During the match, Fujian’s player Li Yiyang delivered an impressive performance, knocking down multiple three-pointers and dishing out several brilliant assists. On the Leopards’ side, import player Smith attacked the paint relentlessly and led the team in scoring, primarily through free throws.
Over the next five days, all athletes will share the same court, competing and growing together.

Shared Memories and Shared Passion
FuJian Homologous Cup is fully open to the public, offering free access to all basketball fans and enriching their lives. The event promotes broad participation and aims to bring the sport closer to the community, especially those interested in cross-strait cultural exchange.
At today's opening ceremony, Chinese basketball legends took center stage, including Wang Zhizhi, the first Chinese NBA player; Zheng Haixia, four-time Olympian; Liu Yudong, former national team lead player; and Lyu Xiaoming, a renowned basketball figure from Fujian.
The crowd erupted in applause as these stepped onto the court, with many spectators capturing the moment on their phones.
FuJian Homologous Cup highlights efforts to promote sports and cultural exchange across Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It is part of a broader push to deepen regional ties through basketball.
With its wide popularity and community base, basketball has become an effective vehicle for cross-strait engagement, helping to strengthen mutual understanding and emotional connection among young people.
All participating teams made their appearance at the opening ceremony.
