Launched on June 30, 2023, Inspiration is an international communication video series operated by the Sichuan International Communication Center (SICC), which was established by the Sichuan Daily Press Group in 2022. Aimed at bridging domestic and international audiences, Inspiration invites creators from around the world to share stories inspired by daily life.
The series covers a wide range of themes, including ancient Shu culture, tourism, geography, Sichuan cuisine, animation, video games, traditional Chinese medicine, modern art, science fiction, and other elements of Sichuan’s rich cultural heritage. Popular channels within the series, such as Sanxingdui Channel, Ya Yummy, Panda Guide, and China Walk TV, have resonated with young audiences.
“Ya Yummy presents Sichuan cuisine in short, street-style videos that are both appealing and relatable,” said Gao, a college student who enjoys watching food-related content.
Inspiration also collaborates with international social media influencers. For instance, in March 2024, @Jack Torr & Sophia were invited to visit Chengdu, Ya'an, and other locations, resulting in a series of YouTube videos that collectively garnered over one million views.
According to Li Xu, director of SICC, Inspiration targets the ‘Generation Z’ demographic, both domestically and internationally, and has gained immense popularity, particularly through its strategic focus on social media and video content.
To date, Inspiration has released more than 200 original, high-quality, multi-language videos, which have frequently trended on global social media platforms such as X, and domestic platforms like Weibo, Bilibili, and Douyin. With over 1.2 million followers on its own international accounts and more than 11 million followers through its partner accounts, Inspiration has established itself as a flagship platform for China’s international communication efforts.
